Consulting · Workflow setup

Digital dentistry consulting for U.S. labs and clinics.

One-to-one, remote consulting from a working designer: how to set up guided surgery, exocad and Blue Sky Plan case flow, scan and print protocols, and when to design in-house versus send it out.

A full-arch plan on screen: the designed teeth over the planned implant and guide positions

What the consulting covers

Guided-surgery workflow from the first CBCT to the printed guide: acquisition protocol, scan quality, planning in Blue Sky Plan, guide design against your kit, printer and resin settings, and the approval loop with the surgeon.

Prosthetic workflow in exocad: crown and bridge, implant crowns and custom abutments, full-arch provisionals and finals, and how a case moves from scan to milling-ready file without rework.

The in-house versus outsource decision: what a lab should design itself, what it should send out, and how to structure overflow so a spike in volume never means a missed date.

Format

You send

  • A description of your current workflow and the cases you want to run
  • Your software, scanner, printer and implant systems
  • One or two real cases (no patient identifiers) to work through

You get back

  • Remote sessions, one to one, in U.S. Eastern hours
  • A written workflow you can hand to the team
  • Follow-up on the first cases run under the new flow

Consulting works on the room you already have: your scanner, your printer, your implant systems.

Why this consultant

One consultant, not a team

Each remote session is run one to one by Nicolás Petersen. The advice comes from someone who plans and designs guided-surgery and full-arch cases, not from a software vendor.

Scheduled in U.S. Eastern hours

Sessions are booked inside your own working day, not at the edges of it. Aruba runs on Atlantic time: the same clock as U.S. Eastern during daylight time, one hour ahead in winter.

Scoped before anything is billed

The engagement is scoped on a short call, and you get the scope and the price in writing before it starts. The follow-up covers the first cases run under the new workflow.

Built on the software you own

The workflow is built around the scanner, printer and implant systems you already have, using exocad and Blue Sky Plan, the software already in the room.

What consulting costs

Priced per engagement, in writing, before it starts

Consulting has no list price, and inventing one here would be a number rather than a quote. A workflow rebuild for a two-chair clinic and a full-arch department for a ten-bench laboratory are not the same job.

A short call scopes it. You then get the scope, the number of sessions, what is delivered and the price in writing, and nothing starts or is invoiced until you accept that.

The design work it usually leads to is priced openly

Implant plan and guide $90 per case. Crown or veneer design $35 per unit, bridge $30. Volume pricing for recurring case flow is quoted on the first call.

Hands-on Blue Sky Plan, exocad and full-arch classes are priced separately on the classes page.

Questions U.S. labs ask, answered

Is this the same as the classes?

No. The classes teach a skill on real files. Consulting sets up or repairs a workflow inside your laboratory or clinic and follows it through the first cases.

Can consulting turn into a design partnership?

Yes. Many workflows end with a decision to send guided-surgery or full-arch design out; per-case pricing carries the first cases, and volume pricing for recurring case flow is quoted once the flow is real.

Is this a U.S. company?

No. NB Digital Dentistry is Nicolás Petersen, a digital dentistry designer based in Aruba, working remotely for laboratories and clinics in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. Aruba is on Atlantic time, so the working day overlaps the U.S. Eastern business day.

How do files travel, and what about patient data?

You receive an encrypted upload link. Patient files never travel as email attachments and never over WhatsApp. Send the CBCT (DICOM) and intraoral scans (STL) with no patient identifiers in the file names; the design work needs none.

You approve the design before you pay.

The first case is free — one implant plan and guide of up to two implants for a clinic, or three restorative units for a laboratory, one per practice. Judge the files on your own equipment first.
